Who we are

FIGURE ELEVEN FOUNDATION establishes the broader direction and public-benefit commitments of the FIGURE ELEVEN organization. FIGURE ELEVEN RESEARCH conducts systematic inquiry. FIGURE ELEVEN ANALYSIS explains public issues. FIGURE ELEVEN INITIATIVE develops policy proposals, statutory and voter initiatives, project-related articles, contributions to theory, and educational materials. People with relevant experience may contribute to that work through separately established arrangements.

Our work

Important questions rarely fit within a single discipline. They call for people who can read closely, organize complex information, understand how institutions function and remain precise about what a record does—and does not—support.

Our work is carried forward by people with complementary experience and a shared commitment to accuracy, independence and responsible judgment. The point is not to create the appearance of certainty. It is to build a sound basis for understanding and, when warranted, correction.

Contributors

RESEARCH and analysis

Examining records, policies, correspondence and documented practices; organizing complex information into work that can be reviewed carefully.

Project and operational staff

Supporting the structure, coordination and information discipline needed to keep consequential work deliberate and accountable.

Contributing professionals

Bringing relevant subject knowledge, educational perspective or specialized professional experience where it can strengthen a particular question.

Developing contributors

Creating opportunities for emerging researchers and students to participate in serious work with clear expectations, appropriate supervision and respect for sensitive information.

Independence and judgment

FIGURE ELEVEN is organized around the idea that the quality of a conclusion depends on the integrity of the path taken to reach it. We value careful sourcing, fair treatment of contrary information, clear limits and work that can withstand serious review.

That requires discretion. Participation is considered in relation to the needs of the work, relevant qualifications and potential conflicts. Access to sensitive information is limited to authorized participants and the purpose for which it is needed.

Participation

People with relevant experience may introduce themselves for private consideration. Public pages do not describe active work or identify participants.
